We needed to get up before nine, so we set an alarm, checked out of our beautiful room with the unused spa bath and went to get breakfast at the café the lady from the reception had recommended to us.
She also gave us some tips for our tour to Narooma. There is a dedicated costal route to Sydney. It is always nice to get off the car to see some beach or make a short hike to a lookout.
Breakfast was great.
Our first stop was a little beach called Cape Conran and didn‘t want to leave. It smelled so good of the eucalyptus growing there and the ocean. There was a surf class trying their luck and a father with his child and their boxer playing in the sand. The weather wasn‘t very good, but it wasn‘t very windy at the beach.
After sucking in this air, we left.
Next stop was a little bakery in Cann River that we had found on Google Maps because it was past lunchtime and we needed a coffee. Being on the road for such a long time is really exhausting. That needed to be fixed with some cake and flat white. There were no tables inside the café, so we found a seat outside. It started to drizzle, so the two men, that sat at the table under the café‘s canopy, scooted over a little and let us move to their table. Turned out, they were rangers, one from the area and one from Melbourne. We talked a little while drinking our coffee and eating our big pieces of cake. They gave us some tips for the second half of our trip – the outback. These tips were very welcome, as we did not plan anything but the flight to Ayers Rock.
The weather was better when we arrived at Gipsy Point, that was another beautiful place on our way. When you get out of the car you hear a million different birds and frogs sing or make noises and there are heaps of kangaroos near the picnic area at the water. We stayed longer than planned to listen a little more to the birds.
We arrived at our apartment in Narooma in the early evening. The owner brought us some homemade banana mango bread with cream and recommended an italian restaurant for dinner.
We had a washing machine in the apartment, that we really needed because we both hadn‘t packed clothes that would last for four weeks. After hanging it, we went for dinner.
From the restaurant, we had a nice view onto the bay. I had the banana bread for dessert… yumm.
